WiFi and Connectivity

How to connect to the internet and use the TV for your workshop.

Private network

As a facilitator, you will be given the password for the private WiFi network: Common Good Spaces.

  • Password is provided with your booking confirmation
  • Required for TV connection (AirPlay, Miracast)
  • Faster than the public hotspot

Keep the password private

Please do not share the WiFi password publicly. It provides access to devices on the network including the TV.

Connecting to WiFi

  1. 1
    Open your WiFi settings
  2. 2
Select "Common Good Spaces" from the list
  3. 3
Enter the password from your booking confirmation
  4. 4
You should be connected within a few seconds

Guest hotspot

There is also a public hotspot available (Common Good) that does not require a password:

  • No password required
  • Speed limited
  • Devices are isolated for security
  • Cannot connect to the TV

If your participants need basic internet access and you do not want to share the private password, they can use the public hotspot.

Connecting to the TV

The TV is a Samsung Frame 55" and can be used for presentations, video calls, and screen sharing.

Connection options

  • AirPlay — For Apple devices (Mac, iPhone, iPad). Requires private WiFi network.
  • Miracast — For Windows devices. Requires private WiFi network.
  • HDMI — For any device with HDMI output. Cable provided. Most reliable option.

Wireless connection (AirPlay / Miracast)

  1. Connect to the Common Good Spaces WiFi network
  2. On your device, look for screen mirroring or wireless display
  3. Select "Frame 55" from the list
  4. Your screen should appear on the TV

WiFi required

Wireless display only works when connected to the private "Common Good Spaces" network. The public hotspot will not work.

HDMI connection

  1. Locate the HDMI cable (in the meeting space or ask)
  2. Connect the cable to the TV box
  3. Connect the other end to your laptop
  4. Select the correct input on the TV if needed

Most reliable option

HDMI is usually the most reliable connection, especially if you are having trouble with wireless.

Troubleshooting

If you are having trouble connecting:

  1. Check the password — Make sure you are using the password from your booking confirmation
  2. Forget and reconnect — Forget the network in your WiFi settings, then reconnect
  3. Check you are on the private network — Wireless display requires "Common Good Spaces", not "Common Good"
  4. Try HDMI — If wireless is not working, the HDMI cable is a reliable fallback
  5. Restart the TV — Use the remote to turn the TV off and on again

Speed and reliability

  • Internet is fibre — fast and reliable for most work, presentations, and video calls
  • Connection is shared across the space
