Tables and Layout

The workshop space is designed to be flexible. You can arrange tables and seating to suit your session.

Tables

We have foldable tables on lockable castors, designed for flexible collaboration spaces.

Specifications

  • Size: 140cm by 70cm each
  • Surface: Soft-touch pigment finish
  • Mobility: Castors for easy movement (no lifting required)
  • Storage: Fold flat and park together using minimal space

Features

  • Lockable castors: Keep tables in place when parked
  • Connect and lock: Multiple tables can be connected/locked together for larger configurations, then separated when done
  • Footrest: Built-in support for legs during long sessions
  • Hooks: Each table has hooks on both sides to hang bags or headphones within reach

Configuration options

Tables can be:

  • Set up in rows for presentations
  • Arranged in groups for collaborative work
  • Connected together for larger work surfaces
  • Folded and moved aside to create open floor space

Chairs

We have office chairs on castors for the workshop space. These roll easily on the hard floor and can be moved as needed for different configurations.

We also have a number of small stools that are stackable, useful for extra seating without taking up much space, along with some meeting-space chairs you can bring through.

For a group larger than our usual seating covers, you may need to hire in additional chairs for your session. Talk to us when you book and we can help you work out what you will need.

Whiteboards and acoustic panels

We have three movable acoustic panels, each with a whiteboard surface around 1.2m by 0.8m. They roll into place and can be used a few ways:

  • Line them up together for one large whiteboard or writing wall
  • Split them out as dividers to break the space into smaller groups
  • Position them around a break-out group to soften sound and hold focus

They work as both a writing surface and a sound baffle, so they are handy for group exercises and for keeping a larger session from getting too loud.

Capacity

  • Main workshop area: 10-12 people
  • Meeting space 1: up to 6 people
  • Meeting space 2: up to 6 people

The 10-12 figure is one person per table, across the tables we have. Other layouts, like rows of chairs or stools around the edge, can fit more people, but acoustics are the main limitation for larger groups: the bigger the group, the harder it gets for everyone to hear comfortably. If you are planning for more than 12, talk to us, plan for extra seating (see Chairs), and think about how you will manage sound.

Layout examples

Depending on your session type, consider:

Presentation / lecture style

  • Chairs in rows, with or without tables in front
  • Bring your own projector and screen if you are presenting slides, as the main space does not have a fixed screen
  • Clear sightlines to the front

Workshop / collaborative

  • Tables in small groups (pods)
  • Chairs around each group
  • Space between groups for movement

Discussion / roundtable

  • Tables pushed together in centre
  • Chairs around the outside
  • Good for meetings and discussions

Open floor

  • Tables folded and moved to the side
  • Chairs in a circle or semicircle
  • Good for movement-based activities or large groups

A floor plan showing the space layout and dimensions will be added here.

Setting up

When arranging the space:

  1. Plan your layout before your session
  2. Allow time in your booking for setup and pack-down
  3. Ensure clear access to the exit at all times
  4. Keep walkways clear of tripping hazards
  5. Conduct a safety check once set up

Packing up

At the end of your session:

  • Return tables and chairs to a reasonable, tidy configuration
  • Fold any tables you unfolded
  • Return office chairs to desk positions
  • Stack stools if you used them

You do not need to return everything to exactly how you found it, but please leave the space in a usable state for the next user.
